Barber sets field hockey career assist record

Kate Barber, a senior center midfielder on the Dardenne Prairie (Missouri) Lafayette High School field hockey team, recently concluded her career with national-record 135 assists.

According to the National Federation of State High School Associations’ online multimedia National High School Sports Record Book, the former record of 117 career assists was held by Chantae Miller, who played for Buffalo (New York) Williamsville North High School from 2004 to 2007.

As a junior, Barber was named the St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro player of the year after posting an area-best 89 points on 27 goals and 35 assists. A member of the U-19 junior national team, Barber has committed to Indiana University.
