White sets Alabama career reception record

With seven receptions in Montgomery (Alabama) Trinity Presbyterian High School’s 24-3 victory over Montgomery (Alabama) Catholic High School on September 30, senior receiver Mark White set the state record for football career receptions with 275.

The former record of 260 was set by Nick Thelkeld of Hubbertsville (Alabama) High School from 1998 to 2001.

Interestingly, the 5-foot-8, 155-pound White actually set the record the previous week, as it was subsequently learned that he had seven receptions as a freshman and two as a sophomore for which he had not been given credit.

During his sophomore year, White set the all-class state single-season record of 108 receptions and then broke his own record the following year with 113 catches.

White’s career total also ranks seventh all time nationally, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations’ National High School Sports Record Book. The national record of 329 was set from 2002 to 2005 by Christopher Fulmer of Nitro (West Virginia) High School.
