Van Swol sets Michigan record


On August 26, Eric Van Swol, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound senior quarterback at Grand Rapids (Michigan) NorthPointe Christian High School, tied the state record with his seven touchdown passes in the first half of NorthPointe’s 61-13 victory over Bridgman (Michigan) High School. In addition, his performance ranks tied for fourth nationally, according to the NFHS’ National High School Sports Record Book.

Van Swol completed 19 of 21 passes for 348 yards and didn’t play in the second half. A 3.6 grade-point average student, Van Swol also plays basketball, where he averaged 9.3 points per game and a team-leading eight rebounds per game as a junior.
